To all LVYSL Clubs and Teams

On behalf of the Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League Board of Directors, we extend our deepest concerns for you, your families, loved ones and communities. We hope that you are healthy, safe and adhering to the Pennsylvania guidelines for social distancing.

 

In this unprecedented time of the novel coronavirus pandemic that is causing the COVID-19 disease, our state governing body, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer, has extended its shutdown until at least May 8, and suspended all State Cup and ODP training for the spring and summer.

 

The LVYSL Board met by ZOOM session on Wednesday night, April 22 and made three critical decisions.

 

1) Much as it pains us, we feel it is in the best health interests of our players, families, coaches, clubs and communities to CANCEL the 2020 SPRING SEASON. We do not feel it is in our members’ best interests to wait endlessly for what seems like an inevitable decision.

We also do not feel it is in the best interests of our players to try to “jam in” a truncated season in June and July, and EPYS has already changed the start of the 2020/21 season to August 1.

Several of our member clubs have already chose to shut down all spring sports participation, and many school district and community fields are closed through at least June 30  due to the per capita cases in both the Lehigh Valley and Wyoming Valley.

 

2) Our regular league meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 9 which includes the election of officers will be via ZOOM, so every member club should have at least one person in attendance. Please email info@lvysl.org the name and email address of your club’s representative so that we can send them an invitation link for the meeting.

Also, please send any nominations for board positions, along with their contact information, in the same email.

 

3) We are going forward with the June 13-14 tournament as planned at this time. We would appreciate if all teams currently registered for the spring would enter the tournament ASAP in the hopes of providing a meaningful soccer experience in case Pennsylvania, the Pa. Department of Health and EPYS deem it safe to resume play. Any money already paid toward the spring season would be deducted from the tournament entry fee, and any Spring Season team entering before May 1  will receive a 10 percent discount should the tournament be played.

 

Deadline for entry is Friday, May 22.

We will have more information in the coming weeks. Our board is dedicated and meeting weekly to determine ways to provide meaningful soccer for when our current crisis is lifted.

 

Finally, entry for our Fall 2020 season will be open shortly. As in our last email sent on April 16, player registration on GotSport for the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 season is open.

 

Players currently registered in the U.S. Connect system do not need to be reentered, but current player and coach photos need to be uploaded.

 

Only new players need all their information uploaded. EPYS will provide more information on that, but for those of you looking for something to do, this process can be started.
